On the fence... foundation fence.

I'm in a foundation rut at the moment.

I'm about a week away from squeezing out the last pumps of YSL Teint Resist and I'm not consistently satisfied with Armani Luminous Silk. While it's perfect for daytime since it offers an extremely natural skin-like finish, I find it not enough coverage for me and not flawless enough for a big night out.
I always have to pack my concealer with me for touch ups around my nose and chin, and that's something I'm not really a fan of doing.

I'm kind of maybe thinking of repurchasing Chanel Pro Lumiere for night time...

When I purchased this foundation it was summer of 2009 and I feel like I have learned so many new tips and tricks since then. I've definitely gotten a lot better at makeup so I'm thinking that repurchasing this might be a good thing.

The main problem I had with it in the past was that it felt a bit too heavy at times on my combination-oily skin. But I just feel like every time I read a great review about it, it's making me want to give it another go.
I used Mat Lumiere as well and while it was great at keeping oils at bay, the application was a bit of a pain and again, it was better as a daytime foundation than a nighttime foundation.

I just want a sexy good coverage, natural finish foundation for nights out!

I suppose the purpose of this post (in which I'm mainly blabbering to myself) is to ask you, fellow readers, if you have any recommendations for me... should I give Chanel Pro Lumiere another go or are there better things out there?

I know Guerlain Lingerie De Peau is supposed to be pretty good, and Lancome Teint Miracle is also getting good reviews. Estee Lauder Double Wear Light looked nice but it broke me out... *sigh*

Help!!!

  1. What was the problem with the YSL Teint Resist? I am considering getting it. I once had a sample and really liked it.
Haven't tried the Chanel one so I can't really tell you to get it or not. I use the Dior Nude one right now and I love it but it is not really heavy coverage so more for daytime.

  2. maybe go to Channel and ask them for sample of your shade, try it few times and when you feel it is the one you like go buy it. Lancome one I had it in the past; it is nice and gives light medium coverage ( more on the light side) though. I think the best way is to get samples and try them at home with your own way of applying :x:x what about estee lauder double wear ( not the light one)

  3. @Schni I love YSL Teint Resist a lot but not enough coverage for night time. It's more of a daytime foundation for me :)

  4. I love my Chanel for those special occasions. Never fails me for those flawless days! The colour palettes are a bit off though, not a perfect match my almost.

  5. I'm not a fan of full coverage foundations so I'm not the best to recommend them, but I heard Pro Lumuniere was being discontinued? So maybe try a different one so there's no chance you'll fall in love with the Chanel?

  6. I much prefer Nars Sheer Glow to GA LSF, I must say. Pro Lumiere is nice but can be heavy and I hate the smell - for the same kind of coverage I like Clarins Everlasting, which does live up to its name but is much more matte than Pro Lumiere.

  7. Try Chantecaille Future Skin, Nars Sheer Glow or Dior Forever :)

  8. Why don't you check out Illamsqua's Rich Foundation? Heard that it's full full coverage.. But you gotta use it with their Satin Primer.. I only tried a bit of it at the illamasqua counter.. And it seemed to live up to what was said about it..

    It's worth checking out..

  9. I suggest Clinique Superbalanced or Superfit!

  10. I honestly think you would love Guerlain Lingerie De Peau, get some samples! mid coverage, the nicest foundation i have ever used to apply and flawless even for oily skin.

I wasnt sure about Mat Lumiere at first but i've been loving it lately for a little more coverage.

And Revlon's Photoready :) Hope this helps xx

  11. I've tried the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau as well as the Parure Gold, but I find that my skin gets really oily at the end of the day. I think the Parure Gold has better coverage than the Lingerie De Peau one...

I've never tried Chanel Pro Lumiere, but I'm trying Aqua Lumiere (very sheer). Even though I try high end foundations I still come back to my Revlon ColorStay when I need good coverage. It keeps me matte and it's so long-lasting. I think you mentioned that you tried ColorStay so I'm not sure what to tell you... I've tried MUFE HD and that was pretty good. Same with Sheer Glow, but again, it made me really oily by the end of the day.

  12. Between the YSL Teint resist and the Armani Luminous Silk, which would you say you like best (in terms of staying power, how well it photographs, how natural it looks and how it feels(?

  13. @Twill for me, I prefer YSL to the Armani... although Armani does photograph better! Armani is slightly more sheer coverage and now QUITE as natural in finish... but overall I prefer YSL as a daytime foundation.

  14. Have you looked into the MUFE's Velvet Mat+ (I think thats the name)?

  16. Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation - medium to full (buildable) coverage, looks really natural and healthy, and the tiniest bit goes a looong way! xx

  17. The perfect foundation for oily skin which goes on silky smooth and flawless is Lancome Teint Idole. I think it might have been replaced by Teint Idole Ultra. Anyways, they might have the discontinued one at strawberrynet.com.... It is really perfumed, but you will look flawless, silk smooth skin and there is no need for touch ups.

  18. i like the teint resist and also pro lumiere but i find that if i mix half of each together then i get an amazing finish and coverage. my skin is slightly dry so sometimes i add some strobe liquid to the mix as well. the new chanel foundation seems nice too but would prob need mixing with another foundation for more coverage. i think pro lumiere is a great foundation on its own but is also great for mixing with other foundations so i would definitely repurchase! :)

  19. I use Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Its really full coverage, and you only need the smallest amount. Even though its consistency is really thick, it doesn't feel like you are wearing foundation at all. For me, it lasts all day long and I don't even need to set it with powder. It's worth a try, and you get more (1.18 oz vs the typical 1 oz) for 42 dollars :)

  20. hey Sandra, You should try Dior Nude, its pretty amazing coverage and very natural finish, like a true satin finish. Also it does not transfer so no need to use powder, and that makes it much more natural.

  21. I love love MUFE HD Foundation. It is advertised as 'invisible full coverage', however I would say it is medium. I think if you don't have a great deal of imperfections, this foundation is mind blowingly beautiful.

  22. I like the teint miracle, lancome, alot...but for daytime. I am loving face atelier for anytime. I do have dry skin though and it leaves me a really dewy finish, so you being oily might not agree. Good Luck! Foundation is so essential, ha?
