Face of the day - March 3

I'm working on getting out of a makeup rut this month, so when I put on my makeup before heading back to my night class (insert loud yawning noise here) I dipped into a colour palette that I hadn't touched in ages - the cool-toned pinks.
I wanted to use some eyeshadows that I hadn't used in a long time for my "Eyes of March" entry so with that, I had to pair my blush and lipstick accordingly because cool-toned pinks are fickle and if you match them up with anything too warm you end up looking a bit strange.

I can't pull them off as well as a platinum blonde or a black haired woman because my hair has quite a bit of red in it at the moment, so the warm red and golden undertones tend to clash with cool-toned makeup, but anyway all blabber aside, I managed to pull it together somehow and this really made me want to tone my hair to a bit of an ashier brown haha...

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation #5
Laura Mericer Translucent Powder
Benefit Powderflage (under the eyes)
MAC MSF Natural Medium Dark as a contour
NARS Sin Blush

YSL Rouge Volupte #7 "Lingerie Pink"
Eyeko lip gloss in Primrose Hill

Now for today's "Eyes of March":

Urban Decay Primer Potion (base)
MAC Seedy Pearl eyeshadow (all over lid)
MAC Circa Plum Pigment (outer half)
MAC Beauty Marked (outer V)
Milani Liquif'eye eyeliner
Eyeko Big Eyes Mascara

Again this would look amaaaazing on someone with more ashy brown hair or on a blonde, I'm a bit scared of cool toned pinks but hey - this month is all about expanding our horizons, right? ;)

Hope you're all having a great day!

  1. this looks gorgeous!

I find it hard to pull off cool pinks because of the warm undertones in my skin, you it looks amazing on you

  2. This is beauuuutttifulll! I'm a blonde, so I am now quite intrigued by the idea of using cool pink eyeshadow!

  3. Totally agree... cool pinks are tricky! But it looks really pretty on you.

  4. You look amazing!

  5. Would you say powderflag is a must have, or can you set your undereye concealer with something else?

  6. @Justine

i've only ever tried plain loose powder, bobbi brown yellow under-eye powder and the powderflage - and by far powderflage was the best. it's just so smooth and doesn't dry out the area or look too powdery.

i hear bare mineral do a good one as well!

  7. Looks sooo good! I love the lipstick, and is that the foundation thats giving you that dewey look??

  8. @Hussy yes it's the foundation and a little bit of my natural oil haha

  9. It's really pretty :) where can you buy that foundation?

  10. I wish I was versatile enough to do a different eye look everyday! You look so good! I need to get experimenting x x x

  11. Looks great, I love what you are doing this month, I may try to follow suit :) X

  12. Beautiful look! And I never noticed how red your hair was. I have medium brown hair with both red and golden tones to it. I hate the way reds and pinks look on my skin. This definitely makes me want to try cool pinks though, but I don't think I could pull it off. You did a great job though! Bravo!

  13. I love how subtle this look is! Absolutely lovely! =)

  14. Hi Sandra.
I really love this March challenge. I have been stuck in a major makeup rut all winter, and this is great inspiration - thank you!
It would be great if you could include a picture with your eyes open in future FOTD posts, just to see the impact of the look with eyes open.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work :)

  15. This looks so pretty on you! I really don't look good in pink, or then only in December in very cool Winter light :(

  16. oooh very pretty ^_^
I'm a blonde so i'm gonna try a similar look tomorrow.. I seem to be stuck in a brown eyeshadow rut :/

  17. Why are you scared? It looks beautyful!!!!

  18. This is such a pretty and soft look. Love it!
