Failed Outfit of the Night and NARS Eurydice eyeshadow duo

Moving along with my March challenge of using different eyeshadow every time I decide to wear it, I decided to each for one of my forgotten NARS eyeshadow duos while getting ready for a night out this past Saturday.
The eyeshadow duo in question is Eurydice by NARS and it was released with their Fall 2009 collection if I remember correctly. I remember seeing it on Temptalia and I had to have it. Such a unique deep plum shade with a blue duochrome paired with an intense charcoal gray with silver microshimmer... all you need for a captivating and intense smoky eye!

Here's how I used it:

MAC Constructivist paint pot (as a base to give a bit of depth and warmth)
NARS Euridyce (the deep plum - packed on all over the lid)
MAC Wedge eyeshadow (to soften and blend out the crease)
NARS Eurydice (the deep charcoal shade - outer corner and bottom lash line)
MAC Feline eyeliner
Diorshow Extase mascara

I also tried to take pictures of what I decided to wear but it was a bit of a fail. I was in a rush and had no time to fiddle with camera settings so there's a strange red tint in the one outfit photo that managed to turn out. I really need to buy a tripod so I can stop taking these Myspace-like photos in the mirror!

Dress: American Apparel
Vest: Rag & Bone
Belt: studded navy blue suede belt from a boutique in Romania - has no brand

Kept it very simple, minimal jewelry aside from some earrings you can't see in the photo and one of my favourite pairs of shoes (by Barbara Bui).

What do you use for an intense smoky eye? For me, NARS Eurydice is as intense as I go when it comes to super dark eye makeup, but I'm always open for suggestions. I was contemplating buying MAC's Blackground paint pot since it seems to give a great black smoky eye with minimal effort. Thoughts?

Hope you're having a great Monday :)

  1. I tend to always use constructivist and sharkskin shadestick for a quick and intense smokey look :)

  2. I love your OOTD! It's very edgy and new york i think. For an extremely dark eyeshadow look i use mac fluidline as an eyeshadow all over, blend it and use Chanel taupe grise on the top.

  3. I feel like I'm the only person in the world who can't pull off a smokey eye! I think I'll try it again sometime this week and post it up. You look good in any look btw, I'm so jealous! I love the shape of your eyes and your glorious cheekbones in your FOTDs

  4. those shoes are sooo adorablee
hope you had a great night !

  5. I love your OOTD - the masculine vest works really well with the dress & belt!

  6. I love the duochrome effect! I purchased Blackground and it is really easy to use and smudge out for a smokey eye.. However, depending on how much you think you will use it, fluidline also does the exact same thing!

  7. I say YES to blackground paintpot -you could even use it underneath this duo, I tend to use it alot as a base for my smokey eyes when I go out it adds nice depth!

Ps. I don't even need to say anything about the Barbara Buis <3 haha

  8. I'm a stylist in LA and I'm beyond obsessed with your blog. I'd love if you visited my new blog for multiple posts a day on all things fashion. Check out what Brad, Rachel Zoe's former associate shared with me and find out my latest trend report. I'd love the support. I'm following you, I hope you'll do the same.

And don't forget to follow us on Twitter for all the latest celebrity fashion news, from an LA stylist.

  9. I love the Aerie Color (american eagle brand) radiant face palette. It has light and dark shadows. The blsck metal, chrome, and slate are great for a smokey eye!

  10. I actually really love your outfit! That AA dress is sexy!

I've never tried NARS eyeshadow. Do they compare to MAC? Better or worse? I love that the NARS shades are unique.

  11. Omg the eyeshadow looks so amazing on you! I like using just a black eyeshadow and smoking it out.

  12. I love literally everything about this post! From the makeup to the outfit, I seriously die! <3
