Warm golds and cold golds...

I'm going to try and cut down the blabber and just get to the point. This is another entry in my little March eyeshadow challenge. Two very similar looks but the overall feeling from the looks are different. Yesterday was warm and luminous, today I opted for of a more neutral vibe but with more focus on the eyes. Shall we?

March 15

YSL Teint Resist Foundation mixed with MAC Strobe Cream
NARS Laguna bronzer
MAC Earth to Earth blush (applied heavily)
Dior Coral Lace lipstick

Eyes:
MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot (as a base)
MAC Blonde's Gold pigment (all over lid)
Bobbi Brown Hot Stone (crease & outer corner)
MAC Raven eyeliner (top lashline)
Diorshow Extase mascara

March 16

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation
NARS Laguna bronzer
MAC Earth to Earth blush (applied lightly)
nothing on lips except for a little bit of Aquaphor (clear)

Eyes:
MAC Bare Study paint pot (base)
MAC Bold as Gold eyeshadow from Fafi2 quad (all over lid - this is a terrible eyeshadow to work with, no wonder why I never use it. Fail.)
Bobbi Brown Hot Stone eyeshadow (crease)
MAC Sense of Style eyeliner (bottom lash line only)
Diorshow Extase mascara

Just a few tweaks and the whole "vibe" of a look can be changed.
I love how in today's look the eyes really stood out, but I love the luminosity and warmth of the skin in yesterday's look. I strongly suggest mixing a rather matte foundation with some MAC Strobe Cream (if you own it) for a light coverage, beautiful glowy finish. Sadly it doesn't have strong staying power - it lasts about 4 to 5 hours - but sometimes that's all one needs.

What do you think??

  5. great looks, i love the warm gold look the best especially after this gross winter we've had (minus the gorgeous day today in TO). great tip about the strobe cream, i'm anxiously awaiting my becca skin perfector. based on what i've heard, the becca highlighters are the best on the market. have you tried it?

  8. Love your blog...BelleduJourNYC mentioned you as one of the best and she was right on! Looking at your lashes, I recommend you try Laura Mercier's Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara in Black. This is by far Mercier's secret wonder product! I've used Givenchy, all of the Dior mascaras (Blackout, Extase, etc) and they do not compare to Mercier's separating, lengthening and building prowess...Try it and let me know what you think!
