The Nail Polish Verdict

First of all I'd like to thank you all so much for your input and for helping me narrow down my search for the perfect bright coral/orange/pink hybrid nail polish that I've been dying to have this summer.

If you remember I'm only allowing myself to buy 5 nail polishes this year and this would mark my third purchase so it has to be carefully chosen haha...

With your help, here is the list I'm going to choose from:
thanks to the magic of Google Image for the beautiful swatches that came up!

1. OPI Cajun Shrimp

2. Illamasqua Collide

3. Essie California Coral

4. Sephora by OPI I'm Wired

5. Chanel Orange Fizz (nothing like the polish I posted about before but I recently fell in love with pictures of it haha)

I think the Illamasqua one is probably the closest to the picture just because it seems to be the most neon... and ironically Illamasqua is the hardest nail polish to get a hold of out of all the ones I wrote about *sigh*...

Which one would you choose?

  1. I would chose the first one from OPI and if i was more tan the Illamasqua one for sure.

  2. Take a look at OPI's Hot and Spicy too. It's one of my fave summer polishes!

  3. I think the color your looking for sounds and looks like the OPI Cajun Shrimp judging from the pictures. I think I might actually like that one for myself, too! I will definitely check it out in the store to see its color in person

  4. The Illamasqua one looks AMAZING! I would definitely go for it. Perfect for the summer. :)

  5. I'd say Cajun Shrimp and Orange Fizz look the best to me =)

  6. These all look really pretty, but I'd probably go for OPI Cajun Shrimp.

  7. I would definitely go for the Illamasqua one:) The colour is just GORGEOUS! and with a tan it will look even better:)

  9. Go for Illamasqua's Collide, I've got it and it's amazing! Makes you look more tan than you actually are and it's a fab pedicure color.

  10. Just based on the color swatches, I like the Essie one. But I don't like Essie's formula. I think you should try them all on and then figure it out. One of the five for the whole year is a big choice.

  11. I think you should go with OPI Cajun Shrimp.. It's sort of a mix between pink and orange, so you get the best of both worlds!

  12. I have Chanel's Orange Fizz and I personally love it. I recently bought a 2nd bottle because it was my go-to color last summer and I used up the whole bottle in that one summer. lol. It's a beautiful color and I love the smooth and creamy consistency of the polish. I have really pale/fair skin so when I put the color on me, it does not really look like the pic you posted in your post. It's more on the orange and peach/pink side of "coral" rather than the red side of coral. I don't know if that makes much sense...but that's the best way I could describe the color. It's a stunning color to put on the toes and I always get complimented when I wear Orange Fizz on my nails. Hope that helps. :)

  14. The Illamasqua one is beautiful. If you're having trouble getting hold of it, I live in London and would be very happy to get it and post it for you. Let me know!

Love your blog - have been reading for ages.

  15. Hmmm...I like the Essie and OPI ones personally, but then I'm not a neon pink kind of person.

Have you tried "Hot & Spicy" from OPI's Hong Kong collection? I hesitate to recommend it because I don't know if you'd still be able to get your hands on it, but it's very much a neon coral color. It actually looks very different in different lights.

  27. take a look at Chanel Miami Peach. It's a Neiman Marcus exclusive that just came out a few days ago. It looks a little like Orange Fizz, but a lot prettier with micro sparkles!

  30. I know you've already narrowed it down, but I have several of those polishes and I think your best bet might be Essie Peach Daquiri. It's my favorite coral, and reminds me of the Illamasqua one, but it is more accessible and "good Essie"... opaque in two coats! here are some swatches:

    ReplyDelete
  34. I own Essie's california coral and i dont think it looks anything like the picture, is much more orangy/pinky than red or true coral i think is more similar to the chanel orange fizz.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have Cajun Shrimp on my toes right now and I've gotten lots of complements on it! definitely a must for summer!

    ReplyDelete
  36. the first one by OPI is definitely my favourite!

  37. I will recommend the OPI Canjun Shrimp, its color looking very cool.

    ReplyDelete

  46. Just wondering about the effaclar product - i use the effaclar face wash and the la roche posay facewash. I took Roaccutane last year and it cleared up all my acne however, lately i am getting lots of little lumps and bumps on my face (Can only be seen in certain lights) I wonder would this work for me??

  47. I own the OPI Cajun Shrimp, have Essie California Coral on my toes now, and I have tried Chanel Orange fizz.

Cajun Shrimp is a little more orange-y and California Coral a little more on the pink side. I love them both... I know that doesn't really help you though!
