The perfect bright coral for summer 2011

After much debating (and blogging about it in previous posts) I've finally purchased my saught-after coral nail polish for this summer! This means that I am now at 3 nail polish purchases out of the 5 I am allowing myself this year.

Ironically enough it's none of the colours I was debating between - it kind of caught my by surprise. I was searching for Essie's California Coral or OPI Cajun Shrimp in a couple different stores and I just couldn't find them. I didn't want to order online since I only had one shot at getting it right in order to comply with my "Nail-Polish-Out 2011" rules. I don't have access to Illamasqua either since Sephora online doesn't ship those nail polishes to Canada...

So as I was sulking around in Neiman Marcus, the beautiful Deborah Lippmann nailpolish display caught my eye, and I was hooked!
Gorgeous bottles, cute names, amazing colour choices... and lo and behold, there lies my perfect bright coral:

Deborah Lippmann "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

These nailpolishes retail for $16 a bottle and I can't speak of the quality of all of them but I am very happy with my purchase. It is a smooth, jelly-like consistency (similar to the consistency of Essie's Lollipop, which is one of my all time favourite nail polishes in terms of colour AND application) and it goes opaque in two coats. The brush is very similar to the brush of Essie nail polishes, which I prefer (I'm not a fan of the thick OPI brushes or the Chanel brushes that are a bit too "tall" and flimsy).

Here's what it looks like on the nails (after two coats):

I know it's not a terrible unique colour and it most likely has cheaper dupes out there, but I figured if I'm only allowing myself 5 nail polishes this year, I might as well make them special.
Very excited to dabble into the Deborah Lippmann brand and I've got my eye on some other shades as well for when my nailpolish ban gets lifted at the end of the year...

Do you own any Deborah Lippmann nailpolishes? Are you tempted to try?

  1. It's a lovely shade, I haven't tried any nail polish from this brand, I don't think it's that easy to get hold of in the UK although I might be wrong.

  5. I dont hve any Lipmann polishes, but I think that's bcos I'm so loyal to ChG bar a few Essies. I've been in the same phase though, trying to cut down on mu purchases, so np fix is the next step. I just ordered ChG Oxygen np - a gorgeous pale pale pink

  7. That's a beautiful coral :) I've been tempted to purchase some DL polishes, but from what I have read and seen they seem a little hit-or-miss.

I'm currently on a nailpolish ban.. I'm only doing it for 2 months and it's already hard for me to hold back! Kudos to you for sticking to the 5 for the entire year =)
