Used up so far... Part X

It's that time again! Here is the most recent batch of products that I have finished over the past few days:

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion

This is my favourite eyeshadow primer, I have been using it steadily ever since I discovered it about 2 or 3 years ago. I still get surprised at how much product gets left behind in the grooves of the packaging even though you think it's finished up.
I hear that they finally put them in squeeze tubes (not just the large professional sized one) but when I was in Sephora a few days ago, they still had the stupid Genie Bottle-like tubes with the doe-foot applicator wands.
Hopefully by the time I am fully finished with my bottle, the squeeze tubes will replace all the crappy old packaging versions.

2. CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine

My favourite clear lipgloss! Not sticky, fresh minty scent, tastes good and moisturizes the lips... definitely one of those products I keep purchasing over and over again. My tube got super dirty towards the end of its life span because I literally carried it with me everywhere - from my workplace to the dirty dungeons of the university library.

3. NeoStrata 10% Glycolic Acid Peel solution

They've since changed the packaging and although Shoppers Drug Mart still carries the NeoStrata line, the two local stores that I frequent no longer carry the products. I did enjoy using this, it comes with a dropper and you only need one dropper full of solution on a cotton pad to apply all over the face (I did it at night time for a series of about 3 days in a row every other month or so - but never in the summer). It lasted me over a year, which is great considering it costa close to $70. Although I was pleased with the results and think it's a great product if you're just getting started with at home glycolic acid peels, I wouldn't go out of my way to repurchase this. Maybe if it was still available close to me, I'd give it another whirl - but until then I'll gladly try something else.

I'm eyeing a couple of new products to try next - an exfoliating cleanser by Dr. Murad and an exfoliating cream from Dermalogica... will report back when I get them :)

  1. Dumb question...what did you use to cut your UDPP bottle?

  2. @ Shireen

Just a plain old steak knife :)

  3. I love UDPP too, and I'm about to have to cut open my bottle. I've heard that cutting it open gets shards of the plastic bottle into the product. Did you have this problem when you did it? I also love the Mentha Lip Shine, it's perfect.

  4. Instead of the Neostrata, take a look at Paula's Choice products. I bought the Weekly Resurfacing Treatment and it is incredible.

  5. @ jacqueline

I never have that problem when I cut mine! Just use a good sharp knife, if you use a mini saw, I could see how you could get shards of plastic in the product itself.

  10. So I'm doing P10P right now and you're seriously my idol when it comes to finishing up products! I have that lipgloss too and the packaging also looks disgusting and dirty. I should really use it more though. It's definitely a good one :)

  13. I'm on a use it up spree too! Sad part is, is that I have so much stuff that it's taking me a long time to get done with anything hahaha. Thanks for the inspiration to keep using things- I need the discipline to keep at it and not buy anything.

  14. I just cut open a little sample of UDPP that I got with the Naked Palette and there's a whole other tube worth of product left in it!! Amazing! I had heard that there's a lot left over but I never knew just how much until I saw your picture. Thanks for the great tip!

  15. Sandra, if you care, get the cleaning product called "Goo Gone" to clean things like the C.O.Bigelow lipgloss container. It does wonders for those pesky sticky labels on makeup containers...I can't live without it!

  16. Ahh I love finally finishing products!

Also I'm amazed at how much product was left in that UDPP! I'm on the look out to find a squeezy tube as the original packaging is so impractical..

    xx

  17. Such a good idea to depot the UDPP from its ridiculous packaging! I hate the bloody thing, the purple coating always rubs off mine aswell and ends up all over my hands. I am definitely cutting mine up now! xx
