The Pinks of Summer

I may not be into pink clothing/accessories, but this summer I am finding myself reaching more and more for pink cosmetics... whether it be brights or pastels, a touch of pink (like one of my favourite light day scents) is welcomed on the nails, lips and cheeks this year.

Here are some of my favourites as of late:

For nails (especially on the toes), it's been a non-stop pink bonanza - from left to right - Essie's Fiji, OPI Mod About You, Essie Fiesta. Fiesta applies like a dream. Mod About You can get a bit thick and clumpy, Fiji is a streaky mess... but ultimately the results are worth it!

Make-up wise, I've been incorporating pinks mostly on the lips - Rimmel's East End Snop lipliner has been on heavy rotation, topped with either Eyeko Primrose Hill lipgloss or Clarins Lip Perfector 01. Dior Addict lipstick in #465 Singuliere is also great.

MAC Well Dressed is the only true pink blush I own, and I love wearing it in the summer.

Here are some swatches, in the same order from left to right as above:

I think I need another pink blush this summer. I owned MAC Dollymix before and didn't like it - so not that. Any recommendations?

Hope your week started off great :)

  2. Have you ever tried MAC Pink Swoon. It looks scary in the pan but is AMAZING on the skin, especially when you have a tan. :)

Amazing blog by the way, I'm playing catch up with all the old posts.

  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one to find Mod about You difficult to apply! Both Essie shades look lovely.

  10. What about Benefit Bella Bamba? You can apply it sheerly with a stippling brush if you need to too.

  11. really not a fan on Benefit boxes!! i don't want to spend so much money on such crappy packaging.

  12. I love nars 'mata hari' blush at the moment. it is a bright pink but you only need the tiniest amount. I also have the topshop cream blush in 'pinch' which is quite similar and costs a lot less! I need to get that clarins lip stuff! I keep seeing it everywhere!:)

  13. I'm loving pink make-up too at the moment! Good pink blushes I own are Nars in Desire and Mata Hari (both gorgeous) and MAC's Pink Swoon and Full Fuschia. Full Fuschia looks REALLY scary in the pan but you only need a very small amount of it and its just gorgeous!

  14. what about Mac Fleur Power!? I also love smashbox blushes, radiance and passion ( which is a more of a pinky plum !)

  15. What about Smashbox? They have two pink shades that Tiffany D swears by. Radiance (which I have and isn't as scary as it looks) and Flush which has a softer look.

  16. I really like the nail polishes you posted, at least color wise. Very pretty. Pink is actually my favorite color and I live in Hawaii so I get to wear it any time of the year. You'd think I'd get sick of it, but I don't lol.

Also blush wise, check out Cargo's Echo Beach. It looks amaaazing.

  17. You should definitely try out an Illamasqua pink powder blusher. One of my favorites is Chased. It's a vibrant pink that is sort of purple-based (in my opinion!). Soooo highly pigmented, you only need the smallest amount!!

Jealous is an understatement of your Dior Addict lipstick..

  19. try Prism for summer, it's a matte peachy brown blush that can be used for some bronzing and facial contouring for fair skin types. It's a "natural cheek but even better" color. It's the perfect balance of cool and warm.

  20. Fiji seems like such a bright pink! I don't know if I could even pull it off on my toes, but I LOVE the color!!

  21. I have been loving Annabelle Cosmetics Mineral Powder Blush in Sugar Rush! It's the perfect bright pink. It looks better on the cheeks than swatched..it makes you look nicely flushed. :)

  23. I like mac coygirl. It's non shimmery blue toned pink that looks good on my warm skintone. I've always wanted to try well dressed but wasn't sure if it shows up on medium skintones. You seem tanner than me.. Do you need to build it up alot for it to show?

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Lee no you don't really need to build it up a lot... I just use a MAC 109 and buff it in :)

  25. Loove pinks too at the moment! I have been using the Amazon princess blush from mac that i got from wonder woman on top of bronzer hoola by benefit or any other blush i own.

On the lips I am loving the new Chanel coco shine in chance...

I need a good pink for nails and I'm all set ;)

  26. I love pink blushers. MAC's Pink Swoon is an all-time favorite of mine. I also own stila's custom color blush and I think it is similar (a little more shocking I suppose). YSL makes an awesome creme blush for summer in a shade called fuschia temptation, it's very beautiful and long-lasting with an awesome texture. Other creme blushers in the pink realm include Urban Decay's Crush (nice but not as wonderful as the YSL one), NYC's blushable creme stick in Plaza Pink, and NYX's creme blush in Glow. Can you tell I love pink?!

  27. I'm a total pink girl. I heard that a dupe for Mod About You is "Something Sweet" by China Glaze. Not sure if it's d/c but I have it, and I love it!

  28. do you have nars desire? its extremely pigmented and obnoxiously bright but if you apply it sparingly it looks magnificent. especially with a tan.

  29. Perfect pink Blush? Try Amused or Dollface by Tarte. Its their new Amazonian Clay blushes. LOOOOve! I have those 2 colors and Tipsy. They are Pigmented, natural and suppose to combat oiliness. And the best part is they have No Parabens,Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan.
