Seeing Red

Over the past few weeks I've been quite enamoured by red nail polish. Always a classic but often forgotten about by me since I tend to be caught up in those trendy unusual colours that seem to pop up every season. However, a good red can really be all you need in any situation.

Unfortunately, in my little collection of reds, I can't help to think that there is something missing...

YSL #4, OPI Glove You So Much, Nicole by OPI Merry Merlot, OPI Can You Tapas This?, Essie Limited Addiction, Eyeko Coral, Essie Lollipop, OPI Cajun Shrimp
In between the rich vampy red of Essie's Limited Addiction (which for some reason looks way brighter in the photo as it does on the nails) and the bright tomato/coral reds I own, I feel like I lack a proper classic red. I'm wearing Cajun Shrimp right now and while it's one of my favourite nail polishes that I own, it just doesn't seem to fit the bill. I lack a good classic red, with a hint of raspberry perhaps?

What are your favourite red nail polishes?

Which shade do you think I'm lacking?

xoxo

  4. For me classic red is OPI 20 candles on my cake (a little raspberry) and without raspberry is OPI vodka&caviar. Hope that helps, take care XO

  8. Essie's Limited Addiction is definitely next on my wishlist! If you're looking for a raspberry tinged red, I really recommend OPI's Malaga Wine, for me it's a real classic. I've also been enjoying my newest purchase, Chanel's Rouge Fatal - it's a gorgeous deep brown-red: much more beautiful than it sounds :)

  9. Oh, I love red nail polish - and I think I have like a gazillion shades ;)

When it comes to a more classic red, I like OPI Vodka & Caviar which is slightly cooler toned on me (which I think is very nice for fall/winter).
I also like OPI Big Apple Red which is a neutral red on me.

  11. My raspberry OPI red I can't remember the name but I've had it for years and they don't make it anymore. I do loze my newly acquired ruby pumps by China Glaze. the sparkle is delicious.

  12. OPI Big Apple Red for a true bright red or OPI's Malaga Wine for a slightly deeper red. I think I saw on your Twitter that you are heading down here to Toronto in the coming weeks, perhaps get CND Shellac's Hollywood or Gelish's Hot Rod Red?

  13. My favourite reds include: Essie Fishnet Stockings, Chanel Rouge Fatale, and OPI Big Apple Red. My most favourite was OPI Double Decker Red, but it was LE apparently because I cannot find it anywhere!

  14. My favorite classic red would have to be OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress. It's a beautiful slightly darker red with slight shimmer...I've tried other red's but I always keep coming back to that one :)

  21. I have so many reds. I really should do a blog post on them! I just picked up a new one you might like: OPI Wocka Wocka from the Muppets collection. I would call it a blue toned red w/ shimmer. Or OPI Thanks So Muchness--my absolute favorite red--it was part of the Alice In Wonderland Col. so LE but you may find it on ebay!

  31. I'm in the red hunt as well! :) Chanel Dragon is a classic red for me. Definitely check out Chanel's reds, they are all gorgeous. I just bought Essie Limited Addiction, lovely and fantastic gel formula. It looks like I have to check out OPI Vodka and Caviar, so many people seem to like it. And just now I got a lemming for a-england's Perceval. *sigh*

  36. My favorite true red that I feel doesn't get any attention is OPI The Thrill of Brazil. People always recommend either Big Apple Red or Vodka & Caviar, which are great, but Big Apple Red is slightly too orange, and Vodka & Caviar is slightly too blue. The Thrill of Brazil is right in between those two, not too blue, not too orange, just perfectly red.
