Ah, summer time... the sun is shining, the birds are singing, aaaaand my skin is an oily mess.
Luckily a couple of weeks ago as I was perusing the skincare aisles of my drug store in search for something new (I had used up the last bits of La Roche Posay and Avene skincare) and the Bioderma Sebium range caught my eye. The entire range is designed for oily/combination skin that is acne prone. Ding ding!
I picked up two things:
Sebium Mat, which is a sebum-regulating lightweight daytime moisturizer and Sebium AKN which is also a lightweight lotion that is supposed to help clear out congested pores and blackheads over time. I've been using it at night after I cleanse and tone.
While I can't exactly say that Sebium Mat does anything revolutionary in terms of mattifying my skin or helping with oil production, it does feel nice and hydrating while being lightweight. Feels nice and refreshing in the morning and I am enjoying using it so far.
The real winner for me so far is Sebium AKN. It reminds me of the old formula of my beloved La Roche Posay Effaclar K before they went and made it all funky on me. It has helped keep congested/blocked pores at bay while feeling hydrating and refreshing when applied. It can be used morning or night... I mainly use it at night but if I'm feeling extra gross I will use it in the morning as well instead of the Sebium Mat. It works well in conjunction with my spot treatment, which is still Effaclar Duo by La Roche Posay... I apply that on any blemishes as the final step of my skincare routine before I go to bed, if I have any!
The only down side? Sebium AKN is only 30mL, costs $27 and I can see myself going through about a bottle of this stuff every 2 months. They do make a Sebium AI lotion that's supposed to be more intensive and help prevent the proliferation of acne-causing bacteria but so far I'm happy with AKN and Mat in my summertime skincare routine.
