Get Ready With Me (Last Night's Makeup)

Had the pleasure of getting together with some great friends over the weekend (most of which I had been friends with since grade school and high school!) and I filmed my getting ready process.
These videos remain some of my favourite to watch and film.

I had to bust out my "highest coverage" foundation that I own - Bourjois Healthy Mix - due to the fact that this month I had some sort of reaction to something (still trying to figure out what) and I had some of the worst breakouts around my chin that I've had in the past couple of years!
Some pin-point concealing and "Holy Grail" products definitely helped to clean up the mess.
I didn't show it in the video, but I did prime my skin with La Roche Posay "Cicaplast" - which is a dermal recovery complex aimed at stressed out/damaged skin and is supposed to aid in regeneration. I always turn to it when my skin is reacting badly to something or is over-dried from harsh acne-fighting ingredients.
Oh and I also caved and ordered Alpha H Liquid Gold, which is a glycolic acid type of serum, in hopes of it helping me clear out the acne scar mess that I will be left with after these breakouts!!
I'll be sure to keep you updated in the coming weeks.
Here's the video:

Products Used:

Laura Mercier brushes: Crease, Pony Tail
Chanel eyelash curlers

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in #52
Diorskin Nude Concealer (shades #1 and #2 mixed)
Sonia Kashuk concealer brush

Music: Bloc Party - "Day Four" (from their new album Four which comes out tomorrow!)

Thank you for watching :)

Ombre Nails & Revlon Nail Enamel Giveaway! **CLOSED**

If you're feeling adventurous when it comes to nail colour for the upcoming season, why not give the ombre nail trend a try? It's a fun and easy way to "lighten up" a simple outfit (I'm a creature of habit and wear as much black as possible on a daily basis... oops).

Revlon Nail Enamel is amongst the favourite of drugstore polish brands and for good reason - they constantly update their collection with exciting colours that stay on trend and they come at an affordable price :)

In the video I am wearing the shades (from left to right) Pink Chiffon, Posh Pink, Fuchsia Fever, Plum Seduction and Impulsive. They all went on perfectly with 2 coats... Impulsive is probably my favourite, and that one only needed 1 coat, but that's another story :)

I will be giving away 10 Revlon Nail Enamels to 10 random readers in the comment section, so make sure to enter by leaving a comment below with your e-mail address. If you do not wish to give me your e-mail address you can let me know and I can contact you via blogger (or Twitter, if you'd like to leave me your user name).

Hope your weekend is off to a great start. What is your favourite nail polish colour/trend at the moment?

Girl, Interrupted

I had all these majestic plans for Blogust until my summer semester courses started kicking me in the butt... while I am buckling down to get all my final projects finished (I get a joyous two weeks off at the end of August/beginning of September) I will have to put the blogging on hold.

Be prepared for a plethora of posts and videos by the end of the month, though ^_^
I am really enjoying the makeup I already own and while Fall 2012 collections are tempting, I want to use up more things in my collection.
I may cave and get myself a little somethin' for my birthday August 31st but I'll keep you posted!

Hope your week is great and I'll be seeing you sooner rather than later. You can follow me on Twitter or Instagram (@5andra_) for small blurbs in the meantime.

Blogust 3: It's late and here's my FOTD

I've been trying to rotate some of the makeup in my collection in order to keep myself entertained while on a little makeup buying ban/project 10 pan mission...
My "everyday look" still looks pretty similar and I've still really been into brown eyeshadows. It's the only colour I've been reaching for as of late - one simple sweep of colour all across the lid and some sort of deeper colour to line the eyes. It's easy and chic, the rest of the face kept neutral.
I'll be doing a post of some of my favourite all over the lid brown shadows soon!

Products Used:

Giorgio Armani Master Corrector #1
Dior Brow Styler
Anastasia Clear Brow Gel
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
L'Oreal Lineur Intense in Carbon Black

music: Rebellion - Arcade Fire

On my nails I am wearing Oh La La by Laura Mercier.

Hope your weekend is a great one :)

Blogust 2: Pre-Fall Dreamin'

I know it's only August but all the Fall 2012 lookbooks are coming out (and makeup collections - but that's another story) and it's making me yearn for those crisp breezy fall afternoons when you can stroll through the city with a light jacket and enjoy the day.
I have a weakness for blazers and often use them as "outerwear" when weather permits. I can never really have enough of blazers or light jackets as I think they can really add to an outfit and bring it all together.

Here are some of my favourite picks for the upcoming season:

             1. Urban Outfitters                                2. ASOS                                  3. ASOS

Zippers & Leather:

                             4. Forever 21                                                   5. byCORPUS

Small Details:

                      5. Urban Outfitters                                                       6. Urban Outfitters

What are you eyeing for the upcoming fall?

Some amazing print combinations are also catching my eye... sigh... all in due time :)

Hope your week is going well!

Blogust 1 - Nude Nails All Day

Over the entire past month I have been enjoying my nails getting in the best shape they have ever been thanks to hopping back onto the OPI Nail envy bandwagon. I bought it on eBay (link to seller I used here) a few months ago and it didn't take long for me to see results. My nails just got stronger and looked nicer. As I do with many things, I started slacking and got distracted by some other products... my nails then went back to their old peeling and weak selves.

I gave Essie Fill The Gap a try and while it works nicely at creating a nude canvas for nail polish, it just doesn't work at nourishing the nail as good as OPI Nail Envy.

This month I went running back to Nail Envy - I use the original formula. Two coats on bare nails, then I paint them. I change my polish about every 3 days so then I start back up with two coats on bare nails again. To keep myself motivated to maintain pretty nails, I have been wearing sheer neutrals such as my old faithful Sugar Daddy by Essie.

It's sheer (this is with 3 coats) yet makes my hands look clean and fresh. It's not too pink or peach, just a great neutral... a perfect option for when you're in need of a break from all the funky colours of the season.
