Quarter Age Crisis // Currently Reading

A bit of a random change of pace - sometimes on my Instagram (follow me at @5andra_ for more nonsense) or Twitter I mention books that I'm reading or interested in, and some of you enjoy knowing what's currently on the menu. I myself always love getting book recommendations from friends (IRL or online alike) so on to Amazon I went!  Here's what has currently been residing on my bedside table:

I started reading this a few weeks ago on and off and it's really interesting. It's got more of a scientific journal feel to it which is why it's not exactly a speed read but it contains lots of interesting observations and research on the role of introverts in a society that seems to strive for extroversion.
I recently bought this on a whim after seeing this TED talk. Being in my mid-20's and confused about my career path, relationships, family ties, etc. it just seemed the opportune moment to pick this up. I'll be sure to let you know if I feel enlightened after reading it :)

After these I think it's time for me to dive back into some easy fiction. I need to read Catching Fire before the movie comes out (I only read the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy and I enjoyed the film so I am looking forward to instalment two!).

What books have you been enjoying lately?

  1. I've been wanting to read The Defining Decade - I'm at a crossroads, and need some help deciphering which way to go!

  2. I'm also reading Quiet right now and it's a very reassuring, comforting but also enlightening read for an introvert like myself. Not only am I finding out more about why I am the way I am but it also makes me feel like it's okay to be just the way I am :) Are you an introvert too?

The Defining Decade is also on my list of books to read. Would be interested to hear your thoughts! xx

  6. Interesting. I always hear people declaring the 30 is the new 20 claim ha. Right now I just picked up the book 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. It is a heavy, thick book but I am determined. It is supposed to be really good.

  8. Both seem interesting in particular the Defining Decade One, let us know how you find that one! Unfortunately I have only been reading text books lately, which puts me off reading novels while uni is on *sigh...

  9. I know how it feels to be in your mid twenties and still not have your sh*t together! I mean comeon, I always invisioned myself to be jetsetting around the world with a closet full of Chanel and Louboutin by now! Why not consider a career as a beauty editor, you'd be fabulous at it and you already have a substantial following.

  10. OMG - that is too freaky! I literally just downloaded those two on my ipad about a week ago. I'm looking forward to reading both. I like to alternate my "serious" reading with my light reading, so I thought I'd read an easygoing book like The Fault in Our Stars before reading Quiet. Biiiiiiiig mistake - that book is so tragically sad that I now fear opening my iBooks on the off chance that iBooks reminds me of that book. Although I don't know if it really was as sad as I read it out to be or if it was because I was that time of the month when I was reading it... Anyway, would love an update on what you think of these!
